The Backbone

Structured Home Networks

Enterprise-grade connectivity designed directly into your home blueprint to support zero-lag smart home operations.

Why Standard Routers Fail in Smart Homes

Typical internet service provider (ISP) routers are built to support 5 to 10 wireless connections. When you introduce 60+ smart lighting switches, 4 security cameras streaming HD feeds, biometric gates, and multiple family smartphones, these routers lock up. Wireless channels become congested, leading to switch dropouts, slow response times, and streaming lag.

Nook designs and installs physical network backbones using high-performance copper runs, Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) switches, and isolated VLAN configurations. This moves high-bandwidth smart home traffic off your private internet lane, ensuring total security and uninterrupted gigabit speeds.

Cat6A Conduit Wiring

Shielded copper lines (SFTP) laid inside conduits, protecting data from electrical interference.

PoE+ Managed Switches

Centralized switchboards delivering both power and data to cameras and access points over a single cable.

IoT VLAN Isolation

Isolate smart home controllers behind strict firewall profiles to block unauthorized access.

Gigabit GPON Terminals

Dedicated fiber entry points providing symmetric uploads and low ping times.

WiFi Coverage Simulator

Simulate coverage improvements by adding access points to the floor plan.

GPON Fibre entry terminals

Broadband Termination

We deploy Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) Optical Network Terminals (ONT) as your main entrance gate. By connecting incoming high-speed glass fiber links directly to our rack, we establish symmetric gigabit upload and download speeds, keeping latency below 4ms.

This allows remote cameras to stream live feeds smoothly and supports instant cloud commands from your smartphone without buffer lag.

Channel Alignment & Handoff

Roaming configuration

Having multiple access points can cause interference if channels overlap. Our engineers use spectrum analyzers to map non-overlapping 2.4GHz and 5GHz channels (e.g. configuring channels 1, 6, and 11 on 2.4GHz) to optimize bandwidth.

We configure fast-roaming handoff parameters (802.11r/k/v protocols). As you walk from the ground floor living room to the second-floor bedroom, your smartphone transitions to the nearest Access Point in milliseconds without dropping zoom calls or disconnects.

IoT VLAN & Security Firewalls

Network Security

Connecting 50+ smart switches to a single public Wi-Fi network exposes security vulnerabilities. If one smart device is compromised, your entire home network is exposed.

Nook creates Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs) to segment traffic. Your home automation devices run on an isolated IoT VLAN, completely separated from your personal laptops, smart TVs, and NAS drives. Custom firewall rules block smart devices from contacting local personal data, keeping your digital footprint secure.

UPS rack system backups

Power Redundancy

Power fluctuations shouldn't disable your home security. We install dedicated rack-mounted Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) units inside our main network enclosures.

If the main power grid fails, the UPS instantly supports the GPON ONT fiber router, security cameras, and Wi-Fi access points. This keeps your home online and protected for up to 4 hours, allowing security notifications to trigger even during extended outages.
